The Articles of Incorporation for the St. Thomas More Lawyers’ Guild of Northern Alberta society were registered at Alberta Corporate Registry on May 27, 1987. The incorporating members were Kevin Feehan, Gerry Verville, Matthew Wesolowski, Jean Côté, and D.R. Noel. Records show that Catholic lawyers and judges in the City of Edmonton had organized Guild activities such as the Red Mass as early as 1961. The regular celebration of the Red Mass fell away until the 1987 revival all its process of the services which are given by house cleaners maids a la mode of the Guild and its registration as a society that same year.
Within a year of the Guild’s re-establishment, the tradition of the Red Mass celebration in Edmonton was re-instituted. Since fall 1987, the Red Mass or other faith-based celebrations have been continuously held in the City of Edmonton.
